Before the examination
Do I need a doctor's referral?
It depends on the type of examination:
• RTG and CBCT — a referral is legally mandatory (ionizing radiation).
• USG, MRI, neurological examinations — a referral is not mandatory; you can come as a self-payer, but if you have one, please bring it.
• Interventional procedures (ozone therapy, injections) — a referral is recommended.
A doctor can send a referral electronically via our form for doctors.
How should I prepare for an X-ray?
X-ray examination does not require special preparation:
• Remember to request a referral from your doctor, which is necessary for this examination.
• Before entering the examination room, remove all metal objects from the area being examined (jewelry, watches, hairpins, underwire bras) - as instructed by the radiologic technologists.
• If you are pregnant or cannot rule out pregnancy, inform the radiologic technologist immediately.
How should I prepare for a CBCT scan?
CBCT (Cone Beam CT) examination does not require fasting or a special diet. Before the examination:
• Bring your doctor’s referral and any previous medical records, if available.
• Remove all metal objects from the examination area – follow the instructions of the radiologic technologists.
• The examination usually takes 7–15 seconds. Results will be sent electronically, or you may request them on USB (at an additional charge).
• If you are pregnant, the examination will not be performed without consulting your doctor.
Will a contrast agent be used during the examination?
Our center does not administer intravenous contrast media — we perform native (non-contrast) imaging. For examinations requiring contrast, we will refer you to our partner facility (MRI or CT with contrast). If your doctor has prescribed a contrast-enhanced examination, please contact us by phone at +421 2 2102 0702, and we will arrange a suitable solution for you.

Which examinations are covered by Union insurance?

After the examination
When will I receive the results?
The timeframe varies depending on the type of examination:
• USG — you will receive the result immediately; the doctor will explain the findings during the examination.
• X-ray / CBCT — the radiology report with conclusions is typically available within 24–48 hours; we send it electronically or you can pick it up in person.
• Neurological examination — you will receive the conclusions directly during the consultation.
• Interventional procedures — the procedure protocol is provided immediately after the intervention.
In what format will I receive the images?
We send your images electronically via the Tomocon GO or T3C system (DICOM format + JPEG previews). We send a link to your email, so you can download the images anytime.

Safety
I am pregnant, can I go for an examination?
We do not recommend RTG and CBCT examinations during pregnancy — ionizing radiation may harm the fetus, especially in the first trimester. If your doctor has prescribed an RTG/CBCT scan and you are or might be pregnant, please inform our staff immediately.
USG is safe during pregnancy and is often used in this period (ultrasound does not involve ionizing radiation).
MRI is performed during pregnancy only when clearly indicated, particularly after the first trimester, and always after consultation with your doctor.
If you have any doubts, call us at +421 2 2102 0702.
Can I bring a child for an examination?
Yes. Pediatric examinations are performed in collaboration with the referring pediatrician or specialist. Our CBCT NewTom 7G device features low radiation exposure and includes specialized pediatric protocols with even lower doses.
• Parental accompaniment is standard.
• USG is completely safe for children and is often the first choice.
• A referral from a pediatrician or specialist is required for RTG/CBCT. If the mother is present in the examination room, we must consider possible pregnancy.
For younger children (up to 6 years old), we recommend bringing a favorite toy to help keep them calm during the examination.
Specialists
Can I choose a specific specialist?
Yes. On the Our Specialists page, you will find the profiles of our radiologists and neurology specialists — each doctor’s profile lists:
• Specializations (abdominal USG, joint USG, breast USG, neurology, etc.)
• Specific procedures they perform
When booking online via Bookio, you can choose a specific doctor for certain examinations. For phone bookings, please mention your preferred doctor’s name — if they have an available slot, we will accommodate it.
CBCT and RTG examinations are performed by radiologic technologists according to the schedule — they are not assigned to a specific technician. The interpretation of images is always performed by a board-certified radiologist.
