Modern 3D imaging in ENT

2 min read

We invite doctors from ENT hospital departments and outpatient practices to the specialist seminar “Modern 3D Imaging in ENT: Advantages and Limitations of the NewTom 7G CBCT”. It will take place on Monday 19 October 2026, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, at our centre in the BBC5 building, Plynárenská 7/C, Bratislava. The seminar includes practical demonstrations on the scanner.

What the seminar covers

CBCT (cone-beam CT) is a 3D X-ray imaging method that shows bone structures in great detail. In ENT, it is particularly useful for the paranasal sinuses, the skull base and the temporal bone. At the seminar, we will show where CBCT has advantages over conventional CT and where its limits lie.

Programme

  1. Principles of CBCT compared with conventional multidetector CT (MDCT) in ENT
  2. Diagnostic assessment of the paranasal sinuses and skull base before functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS)
  3. Temporal bone, middle and inner ear
  4. Case reports and working with the software

The NewTom 7G scanner

At Medirad, we work with the NewTom 7G CBCT scanner. In addition to the facial skeleton and paranasal sinuses, it can also image joints and the spine, and it uses a significantly lower radiation dose than conventional CT. You can find more about the examination on the page ENT indications: petrous bone, paranasal sinuses and inner ear.
