Medical congress on groin pain in footballers: December 4, 2026 at the National Football Stadium
Medirad is contributing to the preparation of a one-day medical congress on groin pain in footballers. It will take place on Friday, December 4, 2026, at the ŠK Slovan Congress Centre located at the National Football Stadium in Bratislava, under the title “Theory and Practice of Football Groin Pain: From Injury to Return to Play.” The scientific chair of the event is MUDr. Vladimír Neuschl, PhD.
Why the groin?
Groin pain is one of the most common complaints in footballers, and also one of the hardest to classify. A single label covers several distinct diagnoses: adductor pathology, iliopsoas pathology, disorders of the inguinal and pubic region, and problems of the hip joint itself. The entire course of treatment and the timing of a player’s return to the pitch depend on which specific condition is causing the pain. Accurate classification is therefore the first and decisive step, and imaging plays a key role in it.
Three themes in one day
The program is being prepared across three main areas. The first is diagnostics, ranging from anatomy and classification to imaging. The second covers treatment and rehabilitation, both conservative and surgical. The third focuses on prevention and criteria for returning to training and competitive play. A detailed schedule with the names of speakers will be published once finalized.

Who is the congress for?
The congress is designed for radiologists, physiotherapists, sports medicine physicians, orthopedists, and traumatologists, in other words all the specialists who take turns on a player’s path from injury to return to play and who need to understand one another. The event is being organized for inclusion in continuing medical education. The number of CME credits awarded will be confirmed later.
